Jessica Edgeington

Jessica passed away on 8th April 2015 in a skydiving accident. She had been an integral member of Flight-1 and the PD Factory Team for over six years. She was widely regarded as one of the most talented canopy coaches in the sport, as well as one of the best canopy pilots. Her work and dedication have no doubt helped many skydivers become safer and more confident pilots, and we are thankful for that and for Jess.

HISTORY/ TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been skydiving since February 2000 and since then I have accumulated over 5000 jumps.  I worked in the skydiving industry shooting tandem videos for several years, which is how I initially got interested in canopy piloting.  I began competing in canopy piloting in 2006 and that quickly became my focus in the sport.  I joined the PD Factory Team in January 2009 and have been competing with the team as well as teaching Flight-1 canopy courses since that time.

When is the right time to take a canopy course?

I think the best time to take a canopy course is as early as possible after you start skydiving.  It is much easier to learn the right way to fly a canopy from the start than it is to try to break bad habits later.
